China Petroleum & Chemical News Network reports On March 8, Sinopec Refining & Chemical Co. exported 17,000 tons of low-sulfur marine fuel oil by sea. This marks the company's first shipment of low-sulfur marine fuel oil to the market, representing a breakthrough that turns what was once an entirely new business into a viable product line. It also signifies the successful establishment of Sinopec Refining & Chemical's export process for low-sulfur marine fuel oil, effectively enhancing the company's integrated refining capabilities, profitability, and competitive edge in the global product market.

Since the implementation of the global sulfur cap regulation, there has been a significant gap in the supply of low-sulfur marine fuel oil worldwide. Sinopec Refining & Chemical actively seized the opportunity, aligning with the company’s transformation and development strategy centered on "shifting from conventional to specialty products." Leveraging the unique features of its production facilities and capitalizing on the advantages of its streamlined processing flow, Sinopec has been vigorously advancing its low-sulfur marine fuel oil production project. On February 8, Sinopec Refining & Chemical officially put its low-sulfur marine fuel oil tank area into operation, achieving an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of low-sulfur marine fuel oil. Prior to receiving the first batch of crude oil, the team conducted small-scale analyses using varying proportions of residue hydrotreated heavy oil, residue hydrotreated diesel, and catalytic oil slurry, ensuring the successful one-time blending of the low-sulfur marine fuel oil.

The production of low-sulfur marine fuel not only opens up new avenues for profit growth but also effectively reduces environmental pollution caused by the fuel during its use, thereby promoting sustainable green development within the company.
